Halikounas Beach

The beach of Issos is the continuation of Halikounas.
Issos is a huge sandy beach surrounded by Halikounas in the north, Agios Georgios beach in the south and Lake Korissia in the east.
It is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches of Corfu. It belongs to the village of Chlomos located on the western side of the island, about 20 km from Corfu town.
It remains a virgin in terms of tourist exploitation because it borders and belongs, together with the neighboring Halikounas, to the protected natura area of the lagoon of Korissia.
So there you will not find hotels or numerous bars and shops, only a large natural clearing that is used as a parking lot and endless sand with dunes and crystal clear waters.
Due to the open sea, there is almost permanent ripple that makes it suitable for surfing and sailing. It is separated from the neighboring Halikounas with a small cedar forest next to Lake Korissia.

Marathias Beach
Another huge golden beach with fine sand in the south and west of Corfu.It is the beach of the homonymous village of Marathias and is about 35 kilometers from the city of Corfu.
To the north begins where the beach of Agios Georgios of Argyrades ends and to the south ends at Santa Barbara beach with which it has no clear boundaries and both beaches are probably one long sandy beach about 3.5 km long until where the beach of Vitalades begins.
The beach is organized with sun beds and umbrellas and several restaurants along it, while it also has water sports. Of course the waters are crystal clear due to the open sea and the sand is very fine. It is also very good for families with children as it does not deepen abruptly.
