Agios Gordios
It is the summer resort of the beautiful village of Sinarades located on the hill. It is also a popular destination after Glyfada as it is a busy resort with many hotels, villas and apartments. Souvenir shops and restaurants are located on the only road leading to the beach.
The beach is a very large sandy area, offering water sports and many entertainment options in bars and taverns all along its length.
Above the beach at the north end is the Aerostato – with a wonderful view across the coastline, from here you can see the sun sinking into the sea.
Explore the old village of Sinarades, with its excellent folklore museum, you can also walk to the villages of Kato Garouna and Pentati, from which you will have a view of the bay from the southern edge.

Agios Gordios Beach is one of the most popular beaches for locals and tourists due to its amazing natural environment. It is nestled in the roots of a green mountain and is surrounded by olive trees that end up in the homonymous settlement and the sea. The beach of Agios Gordios stands out for the rock located on its southern side in the sea, Ortholithi or Megalo Tholeto.
The beach of Agios Gordios is awarded with a blue flag, it has shallow, clear blue waters and a long and wide golden beach. Ano Garouna
The traditional village built amphitheatrically on the western slopes of Mount Agioi Deka the village of Ano Garouna is one of the smallest in Corfu, but with characteristic traditional architecture. Ano Garouna, which is surrounded by dense olive groves, has a wonderful view of the beach of Agios Gordios, which is one of the most beautiful and popular in Corfu, but also in the opposite settlement of Kato Garouna, which is also bigger.
Ano Garouna is famous for its tradition in sculpture and stone carving. Ceramics and traditional Koumquat crafts are located in the area, which can be found in various variations, such as liqueur and spoon sweets.
It is an ideal place for those who love nature and hiking. You can walk from the path that leads to Kato Garouna. You can also go to the Monastery of Saint Panteleimon located about 2 km outside the village. From Ano Garouna, you will also see one of the most beautiful sunsets of the island.

Kato Garouna
Kato Garouna is a large village built in dense olive groves, 16 km from Corfu town and very close to the beautiful beach of Agios Gordios. The houses in Kato Garouna are traditional, two-storey or three-storey, built very close to each other, with the traditional “kantounia”, the alleys of Corfu, passing snakes between them. Even in the village, among the houses, the vegetation is evident with the olive trees reaching the sea. A few meters higher, there is also Ano Garouna, which has fewer inhabitants.
Kato Garouna is an old village with the first written sources mentioning it in 1503. Its inhabitants were farmers, stockbreeders, hunters and builders, but it was distinguished for its marble craftsmen. Their work is visible today in the central church of Agios Nikolaos, the bell tower of which has been constructed of hewn stone, but also in the altarpiece of churches of the surrounding villages. In the precinct of Agios Nikolaos, you will also see a statue dedicated to the self-educated stonecutter, with his traditional costume and tools.
Cultural tradition is very developed in Kato Garouna. It has a cultural association, there is also a dance and theatre department. In the village there is for many years the Athletic Club Volida, football club with many successes.
